The Kelp Forest Design refers to an ecosystem that stretches from the coast of Cape Town to Namibia. Kelp forests are underwater forests found in various coastal zones around the world. The so-called "Great African Seaforest" ecosystem is located in Cape Town. It is home to the unique Bamboo Kelp. This exceptionally large kelp species is typical of this coastal landscape off the southern tip of South Africa.
The kelp forest gets its name from the macro-alga kelp. This underwater forest is an important habitat for a wide variety of fish and invertebrates. This biodiversity of fish and invertebrates also ensures the survival of many native bird species.
Even today, the kelp forest in South Africa is the subject of research; many of its inhabitants are still unknown.

The Botanik Serie:
The Botanik Serie is a collection where fresh and vibrant colours were deliberately chosen to accentuate the radiant effect of the organic silk. The series comprises three designs: Fynbos, Kelp Forest, and African Olive. These designs were inspired by the diversity of the South African biosphere.
To authentically present the content of the Botanik Series, we collaborated with the South African illustrator Amor Coetzee worked together.
