What exactly is Fynbos?
Fynbos is a unique plant family found only in South Africa. The fynbos vegetation stretches along the west coast and the Garden Route of South Africa. This so-called Cape Flora region is a distinct floral kingdom—the smallest and most species-rich in the world. Typical of fynbos are dry, nutrient-poor regions with a pronounced Mediterranean climate. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004.
